Monday night after work, we went in search of one flogger recommendations. Almost missed Café-Café at the corner shop.
Since it’s literally Christmas Eve, the place is booked full, lucky for us there’s one table open. The place front is really small, and in L-shape. We sited in front, Above us chandeliers & twinkling crystal hung, creating a very romantic atmosphere & with tables just a feet away gives us cramped feel.
I was looking to order from the ala-cart menu, but they only have 2 seasonal menus that night one is RM166 other is RM199.
We had the RM199 for sharing, because it’s quite late nite.
The Menu came with complimentary Champagne, which were apple fruity & sweet tart & bubbly
I had the Laroche France Chardonney RM23/glass; it’s fruity & tart & refreshing
Starter is Onion Soup: The cheese & bread was quite hard & taste cold & predone few hours ago, no good. But the soup is great, with bits onions & 3 pieces of escargot, which were meaty & chewy, it’s was very nice.
Pan Seared Foie Gras on bed of salad, sauced with sweet grapes. The foie gras were crusty on the outside; compliments well with the sweet sauce & salad lessen the fattiness of the liver. It was nicely done.
The main I order Coq Au Vin, it’s chicken cooked in a pot with red wine, le francais didn’t have this on their menu, supposedly this is one famous French dish. The Coq Au Vin came with breast & drumstick meat, served with bits of baguette to mop up the sauce. The meat is very tender & dropping off from the bone, the taste was not overpowering, like the Chinese herb chicken – minus the herbs. There are bits of pork fat, onions & carrots that flavors the dish.
Desserts was Panna Conna with few fresh berries (Wolfberry, Rasberry,Cranberry, Strawberry & Blueberry) & a light shower of icing sugar. The Panna Conna is rich & light at the same mouth-feel. The berries lent a slight tang sweetness to the desserts.
Overall meal is good, given to season dash. Will surely come back to try their normal menu
